Evening Falls
As I sit and watch the sun set, so soft, and beautiful,
orange and blue skies turn to grey, then black,
all filled with stars alight. A moon hangs low,
a huge ball of orange in the night sky, just visible above
the tree tops as it makes it way in the evening sky.
Soon, it will soar high and bright, lighting the world
with it's soft glow, while I sit here and enjoy it all,
from my back porch here below.
Such a peaceful time of day to watch and listen,
as nature goes to bed....The last birds to stop their feeding
are the Cardinals, bright and red. They sing a song of beauty,
as the day fades away. The Robins hunt for bugs or worms,
as the last light disappears, the squirrels go scampering
home, the woodpecker comes to call, letting us know he
is there by his loud hammering so near. They
call their songs to each other, goodnight, goodnight, they say.
Tomorrow morning, as the sun rises, they'll shout the joy of
a new day.
Just now, as darkness descends upon us all, I hear the cricket
chorus start, then the cicadas join in and their songs abound.
Now I hear the frogs begin, croaking their happy sounds,
as lightning bugs start to flicker, like stars out in the woods,
I think of capturing them in jars, in the days of my childhood.
The night birds join the chorus, with a "whip-por-will"
sounding beautifully clear in the still evening air.
I feel so peaceful as I sit and enjoy these sights and
sounds, what joy in nature and joy it puts in my heart.
The evening falls, and soon a new day will start......

I'll Remember You Always
And the beautiful moon leaps the skies,
And the dewdrops of heaven are kissing the rose,
It is then my memory flies
As if on the wings of some beautiful dove
In haste with the message it bears
To bring you a kiss of sweet affection and say:
I'll remember you, my love, always!

Hold fast your dreams!
Within your heart keep one still,
secret spot where dreams may go
and sheltered so, may thrive and grow.
